Abstract The paper describes the character and various methods to synthesis of hydroxycitronellal. When hydroxycitronellal is synthesized by the method which diethanolamine is used for protecting aldehyde. For several traces impurities, it is difficult to get the good product which acceptable to the perfumer. Some works have to be done. There are introduced with an emphasis.; ]: |# l! u$ \4 B
